In today’s post, I’d like to digest the song I am listening to right now. Of course it’s a worship song. The only secular songs that i have in my playlist are those of Sheeran’s, Juris’, and Sam Smith’s. The rest are non-sec and I love to keep my playlist just like that!
So the song is Be Still My Soul by Kari Jobe, one of the finest female worship leaders in the world. She is actually one of my crushes. By the way, she just got married to Cody Carnes. Okay.
The first verse goes:
Be still, my soul, the Lord is on thy side
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain
Leave to thy God to order and provide
In every change He faithful will remain
Probably one of the best pieces of advice we can get from the people around us is the statement “Be still!” or sa ating mga Pinoy, “Relax ka lang!”.
It does make sense because worries and fears surround us almost everyday. We cloud our mind with worries about what will people say about our hair, our shoes, our clothes. We worry about what will our future be. We fear the unknown. We fear rejections, closed doors, and dungeons of loneliness and sadness.
It is in these moments that we need to think about what God wants us to learn. It is about opening ourselves to the possibilities of becoming what God wants us to be.
If God puts you in it, He will surely get you through it! Believe! The Lord is on our side and He is faithful!
Be still, my soul, thy best, thy heavenly friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end
Be still, my soul, thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as He has the past
Thy hope, thy confidence, let nothing shake
All now mysterious shall be bright at last
Wow! These words really strike the deepest portion of my heart! It simply tells us to be still for God will guide us in knowing the future as He has guided us with our past. Unshakeable hope and faith we must inculcate in our hearts!
You might be going through a very tough time right now. Believe that You will be freed from it. Your breakthrough is coming, it’s just within your reach! You’ll be victorious. The Lord will guide you!
Be still, my soul, the waves and winds still know
His voice Who ruled them while He dwelt below
The Lord knows everything. You can confide in Him. You can tell Him your deepest sorrows and fears. You can ask Him to free you from your illness, from a bad relationship you are in right now, from your addiction, or from any evil that you feel like keeping you restrained.
The chorus says it all:
In you I rest, in You I found my hope
In you I trust, You never let me go
I place my life within your hands alone
Be still, my soul
It’s basically all about raising our white flags!
It’s a total surrender to the God who’s ever gracious to forgive, provide and love us with no conditions AND at no cost. Be still!
Be still, my soul, the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord
When disappointed grief and fear are gone
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored
The joy that was once in your heart will be restored. You will have it back if you choose to forgive the person who took that joy away from you, if you decide to have a positive outlook in life, and most of all, if you allow Jesus to change your heart.
Be still, my soul, when change and tears are past
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last
In my case, I am thankful to the Lord because I feel so favored and loved every day! Yes, there were challenges and heartbreaks but I surpassed them all. How? I surrendered it all to Jesus and He helped me.
I lost my job the last quarter of last year. Not that I was terminated or something but I resigned because I was not no longer happy working there. So I remained unemployed for 3 months. I was so down. My faith in Him almost got drained. I was asking Him to provide me a job so I can earn again but His response was a deafening silence, until He made me realize that He is just preparing me for something that is much greater than I am asking for. am so blessed.
Sometimes His silence means He is just working things out for us. It is in tough times that we need to realize that God is faithful and He will never leave us empty, worried, doubtful, and uncertain of the future.
God has already prepared the way for us! That is how gracious He is!
Let us trust Him when he said, “Be still and know that I AM GOD.” – Psalm 46:10
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11.
So be still now, God has got us!
PRAYER:
Father, thank You for this sweet realization. Thank You for being with me. Thank you for not leaving alone in my battles. Thank You for Your faithfulness, Lord. I praise You and give You all the glory, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
All the love!
